Lustrous red copper hues and outstanding surfaces highlight this beautiful 1955-S Lincoln cent from the San Francisco mint. Graded MS66 Red by NGC, this premium gem example has beautiful mint luster. This issue is widely available in gem mint condition. Despite the modest mintage of just over 44 million coins, the 1955-S was the final year of issue for wheat cents at the San Francisco mint and thus, was saved by collectors in great numbers. Lincoln cents bearing the “S” mint mark would not return to circulation until the issue of the 1968-S Lincoln memorial cent.
