Beautiful, high-polish steel gray surfaces radiate brilliant luster from this 1943-D Lincoln cent from the Denver mint. This outstanding example is graded MS68 by NGC. Shortages and rationing of key war materials led the mint to adopt a zinc coated steel planchet for the 1943 Lincoln cent, rather than a standard copper alloy. Widely collected, and generally available in high grades, they are conditionally rare in the flawless MS68 state – none are graded finer by NGC. The coin displays pristine surfaces, rich detail and lustrous surfaces. This piece is an outstanding example of the 1943-D issue and would be the showpiece of any collection.
