A deep, copper-gold 1880-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle from the Carson City mint. Lightly abraded surfaces and gentle circulation wear make this a very pleasing specimen which has retained its original surfaces. Owing to a modest initial mintage and heavy use in circulating commerce, NGC lists less than one dozen graded examples in mint state. Only about 1,000 graded examples remain. This specimen is representative of the issue, with the vast majority showing circulation wear and an average grade of XF45. A very nice example of the highly collectable Carson City gold coinage.
